Before World War II there were both Mixed and Male Voice Choirs in Llandovery, but the present choir dates back to 1947 where it drew members from railwaymen and local chapels. The current choir comprises approximately 40 members and we are always on the look out for new voices!
The choir meets every Wednesday evening in the Castle Hotel, Llandovery and is led by the Conductor Mrs Lynne Jones and Accompanist Mrs Elaine Robins. Lynne is the Headmistress of a Primary School, a busy farmer's wife and also conducts Trallong Ladies Choir. In June 2013 she was awarded an MBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours list in recognition of her work in Education. Elaine works as a full time Peripatetic Music Teacher with Carmarthenshire County Council and is also the Conductor of Cor Meibion De Cymru.
